our trustees

Our valuable trustees provide governance and support to the Wakatipu Youth Trust and bring a wealth of experience & expertise to the table.

Joel

“I believe in building up and working alongside youth to help them learn and grow. The Wakatipu Youth Trust is a big part of making this happen in our local community. I see this as a privilege to be a part of”

Jan

“I worked closely with the Wakatipu Youth Trust for over ten years and became a Trustee in order to become more directly involved in the work the Trust does with our youth in the community. I believe the programmes undertaken by our youth workers are making a huge difference to the young people and the results achieved by them confirm this”

Tanya

“I have been involved with the Wakatipu Youth Trust since 2001. I chaired the Trust for 10 years before stepping back to a Trustee role. The Trust has grown in response to the needs of the Wakatipu and I am proud of what we have achieved over the years. I am passionate about the work of the Trust and its efforts to make a positive difference to the lives of local youth in our community”

Wayne

“I have worked in the youth sector for over 20 years in Queenstown and became a Trustee in 1999. Contributing to Youth in a healthy and positive way is extremely rewarding. The young people of the Wakatipu are a great bunch and it is pleasurable watching them grow into well rounded adults. Being a trustee on the Wakatipu Youth Trust enables me to contribute to this transition”

Cath

“I’m strongly committed to our purpose of ensuring that the amazing opportunities growing up in the Wakatipu can provide are available for all our youth. Our great team of youth workers do this – giving all-comers the chance to learn skills, connect, have fun, grow, to be supported through good and rough times – and to be a valuable part of our community”

Caitlin

“I grew up in Queenstown and went to both Queenstown Primary School and Wakatipu High School. I got involved with a lot of the activities that the Youth Trust organised with the High School, especially the Leadership Summit. After studying in Dunedin for 5 years, I came back to Queenstown and joined the Wakatipu Youth Trust as a trustee. I have now come full circle and I am really enjoying seeing how the Trust works to support so many young people in our community. I have seen how valuable the Trust’s initiatives are first hand as a ‘youth’, and I am excited to keep the momentum going and support the amazing work that our youth workers do”

Penny

“I have worked with the Youth Trust for over 3 years now and am an ex-hotelier with 40 yrs experience of hotel operations. Currently I run my own Holiday home management company, along with holding a role as Councillor on the QLDC. My faith in the skills and abilities of young people, if shown the passion and direction, have always produced rewards. They need to be shown the path and given the confidence to challenge the system, be bold and go do it! The world is an exciting place”

Stacey

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of what the Wakatipu Youth Trust provides for the youth in our community. Being a trained secondary teacher, I appreciate the work that the Trust is able to do catering for the diverse needs of young people. It is exciting to see the growth and success of the trust over a wide range of initiatives”
